The pumps have arrived
We are so happy to report that all 10 pumps have arrived in Kenya at their respective villages and will be installed over the next 3-6 months.
However, before pump installation can start certain steps have to be taken.
The first step is selecting where the pumps will be installed. The primary focus for site selection is usually close to schools and institutions. People are usually vulnerable in these areas so the pumps will have the greatest impact at these sites.
Once a site is selected, a team is formed and then the team members are trained. Team members will be in charge of making sure the pump is maintained after installation. This training and education is key to the longevity and success of the pump, which is one of the main reasons I partnered with Design Outreach.
Last week the Design Outreach team completed a 5-day training workshop on installation and maintenance in the Kakamega region. There were over 30 people in attendance who graduated from the LifePump Installation & Maintenance Training.
Once all the remaining preparation is completed and adequate training has taken place, the team will begin to install the pump. We are now one step closer to seeing that clean water flowing and one step closer to changing lives.
Thank you again for your patience and for your continued support.
