Kayanza Province

About the Region

Located in the northern part of Burundi, Kayanza Province is one of the top coffee-producing regions in the country. Grown at elevations of 1500-1800 MASL, the coffee cherries develop slowly, enhancing their complexity and depth.

Farmers grow mostly older bourbon types, the original coffee cultivar introduced to the area in the 1930s by Catholic monks traveling from the island of Reunion.
